At this time, I do not work with insurance in an effort to provide you with the best possible care. Why is this?
Insurance companies dictate what type of care I can provide, how often we meet, and require me to provide a diagnosis that stays on your medical file for life. Operating from a “medical model,” insurance companies do not recognize relationship issues, existential issues, life-transitions, personal development, or self-improvement as diagnosable, reimbursable necessities. I do not believe that most clients I work with have a diagnosable “illness.” Instead I view my clients as resilient individuals who are looking for extra support as they maneuver life’s challenges and normal developments. Working outside the limits of insurance-based care, I’m better able to take the time to build a genuine relationship with clients and tailor our work together to best fit your needs.
Currently, I charge $125/individual and $140/couple per clinical hour with payment due at each session. In an effort to provide accessible counseling and affordable rates, I also reserve a portion of my appointments for those who need sliding scale rates. Please ask about this.
